Valentine's Day in Japan - A Twist

In the West, February 14 is the special time of the year where the men shower the women they love with flowers and chocolates. In Japan, it is the other way around. It is the women who give men chocolates! And the shops are raking in because of the commercialization of the occasion . During this time, chocolates look and taste extra decadent, or maybe it's just love in the air. There are two main reasons why the Japansese ladies give chocolate presents to the men in their lives. One is for showing love and affection, honmei-choco and the other is for obligation, giri-choco, usually the cheap ones. They give them to their male co-workers or friends. Have a Valentine's Day in Japan and it will surely be a refreshing experience.
